it was a nice quick trip. sure wish there wasmore time to sight see :O(
we got off to a late start on Weds and the weather was dreary all the way out but roads were good & not much traffic :O) their apartment was right offthe highway-easy to get to but can we say GHETTO? thank goodness they are moving soon to the other side of town.
we stopped at a walmart to shop for food just before getting into the city.my friends son called her & asked her to get a turkey. she did before leaving home but we suspected(and were right!) that we should get more for dinner.
putting the food away we realized it was good we bought food. they had LOTS of potatoes & a bag of frozen veges. they claim they did not know what foods to get for dinner! then we saw other stuff was needed so off to the store we went.while we were gone & the kids went to do stuff their dog ate 2pies we brought with us & bit into the apple pie we had just put together. so we bought a pumpkin pie & other stuff for desserts.
we got the food prepared & around midnight put the turkey in the oven on low.they have a tiny stove that just fit the turkey so we decided to cook that first.around 1 am wewereawoke from crackling sound& smioke. NO fire :O) just the tin pan had a pin hole in bottom & juices were leaking into oven. we got up & fixed that.
the kids didn't get back til wee hours & never woke up the next morning so we finished prepping dinner.we did get the kids to mash potatoes & get the food out.everything came out great :O)
after dinner we went for a ride.we took a ride up to MT. WASHINGTON & looked over the city. then toured the city & checked out the other side where the art school is. at dusk we went back up to Mt Washington to see the city alllit up after dark. very cool & pretty!the overlook is across from HEINZ FEILD football stadium.there were riverboats hooked up to the docks. but everything was closed so we didn't walk along the riverfront.wish we had binoculars to see things closer.
as always time goes too quick & it is nice to be home :O)

yes dinner was eventful & i tried to give the short version...LOL it was worth it :O)
Events like that are great for the memory books
Glad you had fun & are home safe & sound now :)
it was fun & funny!ok...the dog eating the yummy pies was NOT funny!!!
love the cute snowqueen
Well yes on the funny & not .. but good times anyway :)
I don't know Pat, maybe it's just me; but it doesn't sound right that you are dinner guests and you have to buy most of the food, prepare it, and
oh no...we did the dishes. we had to to get to use the sink & counter to cook the meal. we did clean up after too.when we were done the kids all came back to the apartment .we got the "you didn'thave to. wewere going to do that" of course we did the evil mother cackles...lol
i know my friend did let her son know she was not happy about anything.they were upset over the pies. they do not properly train the dog. she has free roam. she is very friendly, beautiful & cared for ...just not trained properly. we scolded her & told her to go lay down that she was bad. she just stood there wagging her tail like she was good.
i had a dog who was not allowed near the kitchen during cooking or eating. the cat too.
