I will tell ya what people in this day an age have no open mind or no sense of humor!!! I posted on another board yesterday, some lady asked peoples opinion on wether or not pantyhose were fashionable. Well as you can imagine I had to put in my two cents, and man want to talk about a bunch of stick in the muds. They did not post under the original thread but under one of those Did ya know threads, they were saying I freaked them out and they were disturbed and all sorts of other crap. Man you want to talk about ticking me off. Heck I wasn't even half way as perverted in that post as I am here. Geez I'm ticked.

we could do a field trip like on some other boards we do. leave the link to the board and maybe some of us could pop in and say hi. tell them you are nice ...in a very soft way...so they don't freak! yes all of ivillage is public. i can't believe they said they were private...not right!
There are no private boards :)
Hmm!!! that sounds weird that they mentioned a "private board". Gosh I didn't think Ivillage had any private boards. I wonder why they didn't form an e-mail group if they wanted there circle to be private. JMHO!!!
i agree...the ivillage people would not be impressed
Hi.
I have written and rewritten this post many times. I probably shouldn't post it. I don't want to start any board wars.
Our board is not private. It has a culture, however. It is a board that has about 30 regular members, many of whom have been together for 7+ years. Over all of those years, we have welcomed new members with open arms.
Duane's post just caught us off guard. It was mid-thread, with no introduction or even signature. We are used to people introducing themselves a bit before jumping in deep.
Imagine yourself sitting at a coffee shop with your closest friends having a conversation when a stranger walks in and chimes in. You would be taken aback. Of course, the message board isn't a coffee shop. Except that ours often feels like it because we so rarely get a new member. We forget. Also, there was an incident a year or so ago involving a lurker who managed to find one of our members IRL. It was scary. We got wary.
If you have a 6.5yo child and want to join in, come on over. Introduce yourself. We have wildly different personalities over there. You really have no idea. Or maybe you do. LOL.
I always try to assume good intentions with people. I am sure your intentions were good. Ours were too.

Welcome to the board :)
No chance of any board wars here, LOL
Understand the closeness of a board ..
I have CL'ed the F & H board for 10 years now.
Like you say many regulars/members & a wonderful group.
However am guessing Duane was caught off guard as well.
Most boards welcome any & all members to their board.
Do their best to make them part of the board so they will want to hang around
sadly around the ivillage many boards do snub. they
So, you got yourself in trouble huh J?
Awww..come here hon, let us give you a good ol' Sandbox......
((((((((((GROUP HUG))))))))))
I was a CL of another board for six years and on rare occasions a man would post. It may have happened once or twice that it was an innocent sounding post, but it still changed the "feeling" of the board of women. The other male posters were offensive and just there to stir things up. It makes some
J-Man is okay ..... honest ....
