$50.00 dollar bills???

Went to WalMart yesterday to get groceries and other things. My grandkids live in another state so I am sending them money this year (its being taken to them by my daughter). Got their cards to put the money in and then went to Walmarts money center ask for 2 $50's for my $100 bill. The associate said we dont use 50's only 100's and 20's so they did not have any. Huh?? I ask if they would have them at the register and she said only if someone had given them one. Geesh, now I had to make another trip to a bank.
Whats up with that? Are 50 dollar bills easy to counterfeit or what?

I've never heard of a business that didn't use 50s! I know I've never gotten any in change (but I never gave them so much that I'd need that much in change), but I have, at my grocery store, broken a 100 into 2 50s now and then and they always had some. It could be that there is no spot in the cash drawer for 50's so they have to go beneath the drawer and maybe are hard to get out?
And as for counterfeiting,

I personally think for what ever reason the lady was just plain lying to me.

That's really odd because I'd think a $20 would be easy to counterfit because its small. So what did you do?
