Here's what I'm making tonight a new recipe so will let you know on Friday how it was...
Hungarian Gulash
1 1/2 lbs of beef gulash cubes 1 lb of onions 2 cloves of garlic 1 long red sweet pepper 1 tsp vinegar 1 Tbs sweet red paprika salt pepper 2 bay leaves 1 large can of diced tomatoes with juice 1/8 cup of butter 1 TBL flour 2-3 TBL cream fraiche or sour cream
peel onions and garlic, slice all thinly. Pepper the beef cubes. Wash the red pepper , seed it, and cut it in medium sized pieces.
One of my favorites is called Chicken Can Can I make it about once a month or so. I swear I could eat it every day, though!
1 can chicken with rice soup (undiluted) 1 can cream of chicken soup (undiluted) 1 can chicken broth 1 lg can chow mein noodles 1 lb. or so chicken, cut up and browned Mix everything in a casserole dish (yes, even the noodles)
When it comes to cooking, I like to keep it simple. Makes no sense to me to use a looong recipe when very tasty dishes can be made with very little effort. The one that is my favorite I have posted here before, so it may sound familiar. I recently made it for a friend & her family as she was in a auto accident and he had had foot surgery just before she had the accident. She called me afterwards and raved over how delicious the meal was and that it was their favorite of all the dishes people had brought to them and she asked how it was prepared. I know she was being sincere too. This is it........
In a square or rectangular casserole dish, depending on how much you're planning on making, put the following in this order.....
Cover bottom of dish with baby carrots Put pork chops..either boneless or with bones..on next Now add thick chunks of sliced potatoes or half or quarter smaller potatoes Next, layer lots of sliced onions all over the top..be generous Now dot with butter or margerine Add a little water, like about an inch at the most Add salt & pepper
Cover and roast in oven at 450* for 45 min to an hour or even longer if making a lot or if the chops are thicker.
Good to pull it out about 10 - 15 minutes before finished to baste the juices over the top before continuing roasting.
Can also be made with chicken parts. The really bestest of all is to use chicken parts with the skin on. Ohhh..my..goodness..is that ever tasty!! Of course with all the healthy eating stuff, I use boneless, skinless chicken parts or chicken tenders now though and it's still very delicious.

Thomas was asking for meatloaf yesterday. Deer sausage last night. I could really go for lasagna or a real cheesy pizza. No wait ...chineese!!
I had a meal I used to make for company all the time and it was really good.
