I know it's a bit early for Valentine's Day, but seeing all the heart shaped candy boxes already in the stores caused a reaction. And rather than give into the temptation of gorging myself silly on chocolates, I decided to post. ;-)

We’ve all got a Valentine's Day tale to tell. There’s the year you cried for a week over the Valentine you didn’t get from your tweenage crush or the crazy, off beat way you and your SO marked the occassion or an amusing reaction from your child. Share your tramatic, funny, weird, embarrasing or off beat Valentine's Day tales... chocolate guzzling optional!

Hard to believe it's just a month away Brenda,
Let's see ..
When I was dating my DH in college for a while ..
He had given my room ate a very nice heart filled box of chocolates.
As for me his GF .. he gave me a beach chair ::gasp::
I was a bit upset to say the least, LOL
And cried my heart out :(
To this day

LOL on the hearts Donna,
Nope no hearts just a small boring beach chair.
He said at the time since there was a pool at the apartments ..
He thought I would prefer to use it than the towel on the cement.
Practical or what :)

LOL! Now I'm wondering if our DHs are realated somehow. The Valentine's Day before we got married, he gave me a ...wait for it -- a set of dishes! To give him credit, he realized his mistake as soon as I opened the box; I'd never seen someone turn white as a sheet before. Let's just say that every Valentine's Day since then has been roses and candy. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he gets a gentle reminder the week before, when the only coffee cup he gets is one from the infamous set. ;-)

There is one year at Valentine's day that I will always remember , actually this particular item is here in my office.

When I met my husband 18 years ago, it was in the month of Oct. Of course 4 months later was valentine's Day and I was at work. I heard some one at the door and my boss went over and came in with this mug, attached to the mug was a very soft white and black spotted dog, which his paws are holding onto the mug, and in the mug was filled with these beautiful flowers. On the mug it is written in French, "Du soleil dans mon coeur!!" which means for those who do not understand French, the sun is in my heart.

My boss came over to me and presented these beautiful flowers to me, and I asked, "is this for me? who sent this?" Well they all had a good laugh and said Miriam who else would of sent you this beautiful gift on Valentine's Day?

I read the card and tears just came down my face. The dog holding onto this mug is sitting here on my filing cabinet, and there is not a day that goes by that I do not remember this beautiful gesture from a wonderful and loving husband.
