Alone Question

Today Fran mentioned being happy that her DH will be away part of the day Friday and she is happy to have some alone time to herself in her home.

This is how I feel too, need alone time. John does not understand that as he wants to be with me 24/7 every day of the world.

I'm wondering how others feel about this subject.....

Are Fran and I alone in loving alone time?

How do you feel about being alone sometimes?

How much alone time would you prefer to have?

Do any of you prefer to be with your SO or DH all the time?

Are Fran and I alone in loving alone time? No i like alone time. Once apon a time when i was home alone i had to have noise in the background. Usually still do but dh makes me nuts if we are together all the time. On his days off it is a fight to get him going early. He likes to go late...which is great for him as he has me drive home..i am so worn out by then. he sleeps!

How do you feel about being alone sometimes? I usually like being alone except to eat in resterants, movies, art galleries and museums. I like to shop in some places with him. he is slower than slow when he wants to be. Nobody needs to spend 2 hours in a 8 row wide princess auto!

How much alone time would you prefer to have? I like to be alone 9-5 monday to frieday. Get real lonly in the evenings and on weekends too

Do any of you prefer to be with your SO or DH all the time? no...i am too pretty for jail!!

Ok I should be in bed but that stupid American Idol kept me awake.

Well Donna you asked and opened the proverbial kettle of fish - and I feel very strongly about my thoughts on this subject - always have - always will so here goes:

For those of you who complain 'you need alone time' - consider this - some of us

You are so lucky your DH goes out of town!! Unless he has to go more often than you'd like that is. It's true too that it doesn't count when we have things to do outside of our home when the DH is gone. It's that alone time at home that feeds our souls in our haven of calm and quiet.

I too love my DH dearly, but I wish he would take a weekend trip sometimes. Ohhh..a whole weekend alone in my home..I can only imagine! ::sigh::

I so agree about restaurants, galleries, museums, movies, etc. I prefer to have my DH or a friend with me for outings. It's the time at home that I need alone time. I love that quiet peaceful time of being with my own thoughts alone. It's a hard to explain necessary feeling and need.

I agree too that I like being alone more during the daytime than evening. My DH does go out two mornings a week for volunteer work and bowling. He's gone from around 9am til 1ish. I appreciate having those times to be alone in my home.

Make sure you get enough alone time Glenda, wouldn't want to have to visit you in jail!! LOL!!

I can understand you feeling that way Rusty. I felt like that for a few years after my last DH died. I couldn't stand hearing women talking about needing alone time as I would give anything to have my DH back. It's kind of like women who would give anything at all to have a baby and they can't stand hearing other women talk about how stressful their kids are and how they need times away from them.

Are Fran and I alone in loving alone time? - NO! I think I've made it clear how much I value my alone time! As my dd once told her dh when my dh was camping and he (my SonIL) wondered if I'd "be okay alone". Dd said, "she'll be partying!", lol!

How do you feel about being alone sometimes? - I NEED to be alone sometimes! And just alone during the day doesn't always do it. I need occasional spells in which I'm alone 24/7, to do what I want, when I want!

How much alone time would you prefer to have? - I'm fine with a couple weeks a year, or a few long weekends. I might want more if I was around people a lot every day, but as it is, I'm fine with a few days of hermit-dom a year.
