I am so pleased that this morning I got to see Greg Mortenson interviewed on the Today show along with his DD who I think is around 14 yoa.
He is the author of the bio I'm reading "Three Cups of Tea". I think one of you was going to be reading that with your book club, but don't remember who. He has now built 78 schools in Afganistan and Pakistan and is also head of a couple of dozen other schools there. It's amazing he's alive with all he's had to face with the Taliban and other vicious tribes. He is an amazing and inspiring humanitarian.
His daughter is amazing too and what knowledge and experience she has! She travels with him to deliver school supplies and greet the children and is also involved in their "Pennies For Peace" program for US school children. The funds raised are used for school supplies for the schools Mortenson builds. She spoke of how American students look at school as a "have to", while Afghan and Pakistani children look at it as a priviledge.
He has also written a children's version of "Three Cups of Tea" plus another children's book, "Listen To The Wind". His DD, Amira, is also involved with a CD of music of the Islamic area with proceeds going to the students educational needs too.
Okay..nuf of that..I was just excited about seeing them on tv and had to tell my boardie buddies......
I just got back from the doctor's and I have broncitis. Hmmm..that's a new one on me, never had that before! So, I'm on heavy duty antibiotics, stronger than the last ones I had. This time I will get well, but it may take a couple more weeks yet.
Hope you're all doing well and are having a pleasant day. Hugs to all.........

Donna, I think it's always nice to see and hear from authors....It just seems to add something when reading their books....
So glad you saw the doctor and now have some "heavy duty" meds.....I've had broncitis...not pleasant, to say to least.....
Take it easy and let your dear John wait on you:-)
Now you must rest, take it easy, feel better & do nothing :)
Donna, unfortunately I'm not familiar with this person but I'm glad you got to see him on tv.

Oh my....now you have bronchitis too.....geez !
Yep, there's too much sickness going around the Sandbox!! Come on spring!!!
At least it's not pneumonia again, had that five years ago and was I ever sick!! I was packing to move into my new home then too and still sick during the move. Not fun!!
I've only taken one pill..one per day..and it's not hurting my stomach at all so far..knock wood!! I've had heavy antibiotics in the past though and they didn't hurt me.
Thanks on the siggy! I like your's too, makes me think of the ice skating I did while growing up. We swam all summer..roller skated all spring and fall..and ice skated the winters away..loved it all! Now I'm lucky I can still walk..LOL!!
We postponed the party to the following Saturday telling them we "hope" that will be okay. I can't do anything but rest. Of course most of my resting is sitting in this chair posting away to y'all..LOL! Any little bit of work I do, such as folding and putting away laundry, makes the bronchitis worse. I'm having to be a lazy bum!!
Let's hope this is the end to bronchitis for both of us!!!
