Have you ever seen the total of your grocery bill and wondered what you got that was that expensive? I just did. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't nearly $160! But I guess (after looking at the receipt) it's right. We were out of a lot of staples... and I got quite a bit of meat... and a few deals I couldn't pass up... so I guess it's right.  Well, it isn't right, but it is correct, LOL! ....I may have to make this stretch a bit further than I thought I would, though!

Do you ever get "sticker shock", or are you one of those people who is able to keep a running total of your order in your head?

Yes, many people get fooled by ground turkey. They think they're doing something more healthy for their families when the product often has more fat content than even lean ground beef has. What I've started doing more of is grilling fat free chicken breasts, then cutting them in strips and shredding them with a fork. More healthy and more tasty..IMO..than ground turkey

we seldom have that here ...but you can use a little canola oil to brown or add some water too. Then spices or a can of soup in the mix. We love cream broccolli, cream cwelleery, cream of mushroom ect. so many choices and yeas you can get low salt and low calorie too!
A lady i know makes turkey burgers and adds zesty italian salad dressing to the mix...and it kills the dryness. She loves to bbq them too.

Did i mention last week i bought a burger maker thing that i think tupperware used to sell. Well i use that to form and freeze then bag them. Got that at a second hand store for under a buck! i also got a cast iron frypan for camping with the grill in the bottom. will keep food off the fat toogreat for bbq's, rushed meals and camping. Thomas will also grab a bag for him and his friends to have at a firepit. we have the burger holders for firepits too.

we buy by gran too here. Luckly we have the lunchen meat priced and they put a sticker on it that tells the price and weight on it so no surprises. The meat also has all the prices on it too.

This is a silly question...but do you put bread crumbs or crackers in the burgers too. I make mine with an egg, spice, onion, and bread crumbs too. It sops a lot of the juice up too.
Oh we buy extra lean meat here.

Oh forgot to mention my inlaws add crackers to scrambled eggs too. great for camping...less runny!

I've never heard the term "till" used in this way before. We call it the check out counter or cash register. I mean, "a money drawer" is one definition of "till", but we don't use it that way. Always interesting to hear different words used in differents parts of the world.

BTW...I noticed it's up to 12*F up your way!
Ouuu..you're having a heat wave..LOL!!

Yes, I agree ground turkey can be a good choice for cooking. Be aware though that if it is moist, it is full of fat. Often, ground turkey has more fat content than lean ground beef. I prefer grilling boneless, skinless chicken breasts and shredding them.

I hardly ever make meatloaf even though it is one of my favorite dishes. The reason is because I only like it made with lean ground beef. I try not to eat beef very often.

Sometimes I do, yes. Other times I just put spices in, make them into individual burgers and freeze them. Then I put them on my indoor (George Foreman) grill frozen and they cook up with no mess. But in checking, I do have some a box of lean turkey burgers all pre-made that are low fat. They don't have the same spices the ones I make have, but they may be better for us.
