Pulled Muscle..Broken Leg???

Last week my leg was hurting some, but not enough to worry me about it. Well Thursday of last week I went and to the hair salon and I used my walker, the rest of the time I'm in a wheel chair and I don't do very much walking at all. So after Thursday, my leg has been hurting really, really bad. Wednesday I went to the doc and it X-rayed and according to them its not broken and to make sure of that, in a few wks I go and have an MRI done. But it hurts and kinda has burning sensation. So I don't know if its a pulled muscle, which I'm hoping that's all that it is, but it hurts really, really bad when I get in and out of the van. Spending time in a spika isn't in my plans anytime soon.

I don't understand if they think there is any possiblity that there's a broken bone or hairline fracture in your leg why are they waiting a couple WEEKS to have an MRi... did they give you something to ease the pain and relax the

Oh Rita that sounds bad....I sure hope it's not broken...seems like you shouldn't have to wait so long to have an MRI......Did the doc give you something for the pain?..

Be careful and take good care of yourself....

I could have, but I didn't think I needed them.

It didn't show up as broken in the X-rays. Couple of wks for the MRI was as soon as they could get me in. I'm wondering if maybe a I twisted it when I got out of the chair, but I didn't fall. I'm starting to wish I would've got something for the pain, but I'm wondering if swimming might help. What do you think?

I love to exersize in the pool so easy on back and hip. Maybe you need to let it rest a while first.
Can you get into any other dr for a second opinion sooner??

Yeah I'm gonna wait on the swimming. Its the thigh area. In 2000 I had surgery and the doc did bone grafting there and then in 2003 I broke, in that area, and that's where its hurting now, but I kinda think its the muscle just be the way it feels. The only time I put weight on it is when I go to the bathroom, in and outta the van and my bed. So I try not to stand or put any weight on it.

I hope so. The only reason why I probably won't get a second opinion is because the doc I went to has the best x-ray machine and can see it better. But I'm just taking it easy!!!

Could it be scar tissue from the surgery in that area? I know scar tissue can cause pain, but I don't know how to determine that pain from other types of pain. Did you try heat or ice to ease the pain? Having to wait so long for the MRI and who knows how long after that for the next step, I think you should call them and get pain pills prescribed to your pharmacist for you to pick up or get delivered if you have that service where you are.

So sorry this is happening to you Rita and I hope it eases up soon for you and turns out to be something minor.

Healing Hugs.....
