I Survived.....

Just a little update from yesterday.  To say it was 'whirlwind' visit would be an understatement.  I knew I had to take the walker up to the Big Mall yesterday because of the back so i made arrangements to have the grandkids dropped off there.  It was 12F but there was no wind so I sat outside the mall and waited til they arrived with no hat and no gloves.  I was kinda relaxing - for all of 2 minutes....

We went inside the Big Mall (BTW I call it that because it is the biggest mall in Ontario and its proper name is Square One) - ok on with the story...lol   I told Caleb he could go inside Ron Jon's Surf Shop to see what he was in for when we went to Florida in 1 year 1 month and 25 days.   I sat outside the store and waited while the pair of them went around feasting their eyes on what their old granny could buy them next.  One thing I do is when its one of the grand's birthdays I do buy the other a little treat.   Caleb came bounding out - 'Granny - there is a cap in there that's on sale and its ONLY $15' - so I went inside and had a look.   $17.99 later he came out with a nice baseball style brown/black sort of plaid cap with the 'Hurley' logo - Hurley is surf boarding stuff - I guess...lol

We then went to my Travel Agent and I introduced the kids to her so she knew who she was making these reservations for in 1 year, 1 month and 25 sleeps...rofl (sorry - I'll stop now).

The movie didn't start til 12:40 pm or so the website said and it was only 11 a.m. so I did something I've never done before - I sat down and let the kids go to various stores (within yelling range of course)   I wasn't comfortable but I knew I had to let out the leash a little bit.  Caleb had a $50 gift certificate from an electronics store that I had given him so he went in to spend it.   He said he already knew what he was getting.......   five minutes later I hear this 'granny - I wanted to get XBox Live account but I'm $10 short.... '  big eyes looking sadly at me...... I only had $20s so I gave in and gave him one and off he went.   I'm still waiting for the change...

My Scotia on the other hand - wanted to go into Claire's (those places that sell earrings, headbands, etc.) so again I sat out in th emall and let her.  This all went on for half an hour or so and then we went for lunch.  Scotia wanted to go to Subway and get her favourite Tuna sub - I only had $20s so I gave her one and off she went - I'm still waiting for the change....   Caleb on the other hand decided to go to Mr. Sub - blah blah blah ... I'm still watiing for the change...

We got to the movie theatre in the mall at 12:00 pm - and found that the box office didn't even open until 12:30 - so - here I am with a bad back that just wants to lay down - 2 kids full of beans who don't want to lay down - and I sent them off the Old Navy which was just down the hall....  they were REALLY good about watching the time.

So in the movie we went - 'Hotel for Dogs' which incidently didn't even start til 1:10..ggrr  I thought would be a silly movie - but it actually was pretty good.  When we came out the sky started looking dark so I suggested we get a move on and get back home to go swimming.   Now Scotia is starting to wear lip gloss and she doesn't yet know how to put it on.  It was really cute - she's protecting her lips from the cold biting winds - which it was by now and of course she now looks like Miss Piggy  - way too much and all the lip lines were missed...rofl  too cute but I wouldn't embarrass her in any way so I didn't say anything.

We got home - got changed into our swim trunks and their crummy parents showed up!!!   The kids were really upset but there was a storm coming in so we agreed on 15 minutes in the pool.  Scotia hadn't even opened her presents or had the cake at this point.  I didn't bother going swimming but I really wanted to yesterday - oh well there will be other times.  Its not like the pool is on the other block...lol

She loved her earrings and said it was EXACTLY what she wanted, her jean jacket was too small and will have to take that back to La Stenza Kids and I found out she doesn't even like the Jonas Brothers - so she can exchange the CD too.

By 5 pm I couldn't see much past my balcony and they had to leave - they have a 1 1/2 hour trip into snow country so I knew it would take them at least 2 hours so they all left.

It was a great day - I didn't take many photos but here is the cake - which turned out was edible..lol  Scotia's hair is soaking wet but thats all the time we had.  I think I fell asleep about 6:30 last night....lol

If you are still reading - thanks for staying with me - if you are sleeping - you can thank me for such a long story for such a little day...rofl

I keep forgetting to mention - I love looking at your siggi - I know you've had it for a long time but it reminds me of crocuses as the first sign of spring.

I loved reading your novel!! Loved the pix of cutie pie Scotia and her very special bday cake too!!

What a great day you had and they loved being with you too! You were all busy making more memories for those dear ones to grow up with.

Hope your back eases up quickly. Wonderful that your shots last for several weeks! Mine used to also, but last few times it only lasted 1 to 1 1/2 weeks, so it's not worth getting them
