Universal health care can be good, but we still(for the most part) need extra insurance.
If you are on assistance everything is free to a point. You still have to pay for some dental work...like braces, caps, root canals...ect. Cheap eye glasses only but only one free eyes test a year(i think??)No safety glass or bifocals. No hearing aids. Adults haqve top pay a low(4-10 dollar perscription fee.)
For others the health care plan here will NOT pay for ambulance, perscriptions...but most are lower than the states pay, no private or semi private rooms, no dental, not glasses or hearing aids. So it helps the very poor...or like grants nephew...those that want to work very little.
Also things like getting a cast are only basic. Like you have to pay for splints, anything above a basic cast, rent or buy crutches...you get the idea.
So for those there that want to drop all healthcare payments because they will get universal coverage...should wait to see what they will cover and for who!
What would work would be to have this type of plan in place for those with no health insurance and no money to buy any and only have the plan for those people. Then reduce the premiums for the rest of us whose premiums are high due partly to the fact that we're now paying for the uninsured to receive care as part of our premium costs. That I could agree with I think unless I hear otherwise.
John and I had a similiar talk just yesterday. We were discussing the country's dependence on oil. If all oil production would stop, what would happen..no trucking of anything or trains or airplanes..no driving..no plastics in this plastic world..no rubber..no heat for some buildings, turbine electric power, and
