Being a parent is one of life's most difficult (and rewarding) roles. iVillage is pulling together a slideshow for Mother's Day where members tip their hats to the advice they received from their own moms on stepping into the parenting role. We'd love for you to share your answers, so tell us:
What’s the best parenting advice you received from your mom (or someone just like her?)

Just say no!! LOL
I think it was my first MIL that gave me some of the best advice. Never my mom...she was not a parent.
1. You are a parent not a friend
2. Set limits and rules...then stick to them!
3. Don't coddle and teach them to deal with consequences themselves.
4. Make them responsible for their own decisions...you will not always be there for them.
5. Make them earn their own money so they learn the value of it!
6. Make sure they know you are always there if things get bad, for support or advice

There's definitely something to that... it kind of
