I got this idea from Rita's comment that she bought a diary... so wondering how many here keep a diary, or have in the past ? Diaries are private and also wondered if you would mind if anyone in your family got ahold of it and read it... LOL
I had a diary for a little while as a kid, but really didn't like writing in it. I never felt the need to talk to myself in writing as I didn't want anyone else to read it, so what was the point? I got bored with it before too long and tossed it in the trash. If anyone in my family had gotten ahold of it and read it and made it known to me that they'd read it, I would have been embarrassed even if there was nothing in it to "incriminate" me for it would have been violating my privacy.
As an adult, I tried journaling a couple of times, which to me is the same as a diary, but still felt the same way..what was the point in talking to myself in writing? I used to lead a grief support group for a couple of years and encouraged members to try
I did have a diary all through HS, In fact I still have it .. However only used/wrote in it when I was in HS. It's fun to read back what I wrote then :)
Yes, I keep a diary, and I have for the past 37 or 38 years. I don't think I'd know how to stop now if I wanted to.
I don't really know how I'd feel if someone read my journal. It isn't like there's anything really bad in there, and they might even learn a few things, lol. Usually, it's just silly stuff I notice and day to day things. But, then again,
I think I have 9...or more. I had one and my cat ate something that didn't set too well with him and off all places, he just had to puke on my diary while I was at school, or I'd have that one. I think I was in the 8th or 9th grade.
