Whatcha all reading now??

I finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" in Cincinnati. I loved that book, could hardly put it down, very interesting. It is about the life of two main women characters in Afghanistan and as you know, women are treated terribly there, so many bad things happened. It was especially bad when the Taliban took over the area for awhile..they are brutal horrible dangerous people. Even though many bad things happened, it was still a very good story. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next and how it would all turn out. It has a good ending.

Someone here mentioned they were reading "Wicked" and I had actually just ordered it from Amazon. Whomever it was who is reading it, do you like it?

I had to get another book right away and my DD2 suggested I read "Twilight". I never have had an interest in reading a book about vampires and she said she didn't either, but she took a chance and bought it because it was so popular. She said she loved it so much that she devoured all of the series right away. So, I got it and..to my own surprise..I loved it so much I could hardly put it down and finished it in four days even though we were on vacation and very busy doing fun things. I bought the next one in the series and am loving it too. It has a lot of sexual tension, but it never gets graphic at all and it's so mysterious. I just can't wait to turn the page to see what is going to happen next. I highly recommend it. Hugs..I think you'd like it too!

So, what are you all reading now? Anyone reading anything different from the genre you normally lean towards?

I finished The Art of Racing in the Rain this morning (sniffle). It was very good - A story told from a dog's viewpoint about the people and events around him. It had heart and soul - and sadness, too, but ultimately was a good read and will cause everyone to look at their pets in a new light, lol.

Now I'm reading The Night Boat. It's a horror novel about a WWII submarine that is brought to the surface by an explosion and .... bad things happen, lol. (I haven't gotten too far in it, so don't know what bad things will happen).

I'm reading Savannah Breeze by Mary Kay Andrews. Its pretty good and I really love MKA. She's one of the best authors for light reading.

A horror book..that's as different as me reading a book about vampires..LOL!! Does sound entertaining in an odd sort of way though.

The dog book sounds really good. I'm going to add that to my amazon list. I don't think Suzan should read it..she'd sob her way through the whole thing..LOL!

I do understand reading slumps as that happens to me too, but I'm surprised that it happens to you. You seem to be reading something all the time. I'm out of my slump and reading a lot again now.

That's how I felt about Twilight too, but so glad my DD2 suggested it when I finished my other book in Cincinnati. I am surprised at how much I am loving these books! If you don't like romance in your books though, you may not like it. It does have good mystery though. I'm only 1/4 of the way through the second book, so I don't know if the sexual tension increases or not in the other books. My DGD is 12 and wanted to read the books and see the movie. That's one of the reasons why my DD read them first. She told my DGD that she could read them in a few more years. "All" of DGD's friends are reading them though.

Did you read the whole Twilight series? I'm 1/4 through the second one and loving it too.

I looked up Indelible and it looks like a good one too.

Happy reading!
