Whatcha all reading now??

I finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" in Cincinnati. I loved that book, could hardly put it down, very interesting. It is about the life of two main women characters in Afghanistan and as you know, women are treated terribly there, so many bad things happened. It was especially bad when the Taliban took over the area for awhile..they are brutal horrible dangerous people. Even though many bad things happened, it was still a very good story. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next and how it would all turn out. It has a good ending.

Someone here mentioned they were reading "Wicked" and I had actually just ordered it from Amazon. Whomever it was who is reading it, do you like it?

I had to get another book right away and my DD2 suggested I read "Twilight". I never have had an interest in reading a book about vampires and she said she didn't either, but she took a chance and bought it because it was so popular. She said she loved it so much that she devoured all of the series right away. So, I got it and..to my own surprise..I loved it so much I could hardly put it down and finished it in four days even though we were on vacation and very busy doing fun things. I bought the next one in the series and am loving it too. It has a lot of sexual tension, but it never gets graphic at all and it's so mysterious. I just can't wait to turn the page to see what is going to happen next. I highly recommend it. Hugs..I think you'd like it too!

So, what are you all reading now? Anyone reading anything different from the genre you normally lean towards?

I'm not a big fan of the Twilight series, either. I read them all, but didn't love them like many have.

Yes, The dog book was sad at the start and more sad at the end, but the middle was good and worth the tears I cried, lol.

Yes, I remember you mentioning you'd like to see Wicked. Someone else, though, said they were reading it, maybe on another board.

I just looked up Firefly Lane at Amazon. Sounds like a "Beaches" theme, loved that book and movie.

Tell me what you think of The Song of the Lark. Classics or classic types are hard to read sometimes.

I can see how someone would feel that way about Bella. I love sappy love stories though and feel for Bella. When my last husband died, it took me four years before I began to feel healed. I didn't mope like Bella though for I needed people, parties and fun around me to distract me from tears of sadness. Bella was never a party girl though, so moping suits her better. It's very painful when you lose the love of your life and I can relate to how she's feeling.

I don't think I'll read that one, sounds way too hard on the emotions. Glad you liked it though.
