Whatcha all reading now??

I finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" in Cincinnati. I loved that book, could hardly put it down, very interesting. It is about the life of two main women characters in Afghanistan and as you know, women are treated terribly there, so many bad things happened. It was especially bad when the Taliban took over the area for awhile..they are brutal horrible dangerous people. Even though many bad things happened, it was still a very good story. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next and how it would all turn out. It has a good ending.

Someone here mentioned they were reading "Wicked" and I had actually just ordered it from Amazon. Whomever it was who is reading it, do you like it?

I had to get another book right away and my DD2 suggested I read "Twilight". I never have had an interest in reading a book about vampires and she said she didn't either, but she took a chance and bought it because it was so popular. She said she loved it so much that she devoured all of the series right away. So, I got it and..to my own surprise..I loved it so much I could hardly put it down and finished it in four days even though we were on vacation and very busy doing fun things. I bought the next one in the series and am loving it too. It has a lot of sexual tension, but it never gets graphic at all and it's so mysterious. I just can't wait to turn the page to see what is going to happen next. I highly recommend it. Hugs..I think you'd like it too!

So, what are you all reading now? Anyone reading anything different from the genre you normally lean towards?

I loved "Three Cups of Tea"..wonderful book!! I love reading books that I learn from and I sure learned a lot about life in Afghanistan and Pakistan from that book! Greg Mortenson is a wonderful humanitarian. It amazes me how people risk their lives over and over again to help mankind. He is lucky to be alive with all he had to face.

He is speaking here in my town next April, 2010. It's pending, but is on my calendar and I hope it becomes finalized for I will be there!

Here we have a 5 year rabies shot. My pets have gotten it for years and years and never had a problem.

Not sure I want to read it with so much sadness, but those are some of the best books and movies

That sounds like a frustrating, but really good book. I hope it ends well for Claire.

Ann, doesn't sound like I'm missing much by not reading Twilight.

I think what happens during the summer is that I have the kids all week. No real quiet time to myself to read. And I have to have quiet.....By the end of the week, I feel "brain dead" and can't seem to focus on anything like reading.

Last night I remembered a book I have by Janet Evanovich. It's one of her first books before writing the Plum series...It looks like it will be

A friend gave me Janet Evanovich's book, Three To Get Deadly, and I read about 1/4 of it. It was okay, but it was at a time during a reading slump and I couldn't stay with it. I may go back to it one of these days.

I hope you can find some non brain dead..lol..quiet time to do some reading as I know you love it.

Wow, that's some really good kudos on Patterson!! I've never read him I don't think. You've convinced me now..I'll add that to my list. Oh, goodness, I have such a looooong TBR list I'll never get to them all and I keep adding more! I need to stay away from the computer more and read more.
