1. Do you currently have a will and how often do you actually update the information?

2. Have you given instructions to your family members as to what you desire to have happen to your body and/ceremony? If so, are they written, verbal or have you actually proceeded with making arrangements so others are not burdened?

3. Is your state or province or country Community Property?

4. Do/Did you have someone officially appointed as a guardian for your children?

5. Have you ever been the executor of someone’s estate? Was it easy to settle matters or was it a stressful, tangled mess? Did you have to hire someone to help you through the process?

1. Do you currently have a will and how often do you actually update the information?

-> Sure do. I am going in on Monday to start the process of updating the information after 10-1/2 years. This will be the first time.

2. Have you given instructions to your family members as to what you desire to have happen to your body and/ceremony? If so, are they written, verbal or have you actually proceeded with making arrangements so others are not burdened?

-> I have verbally. Hubby doesn't care what happens to himself. We probably should have it written down and notarized at some point and perhaps prepay the services ourselves. Also need to give the kids the ins and outs of how things are handled.

3. Is your state or province or country Community Property?

-> Community property.

4. Do/Did you have someone officially appointed as a guardian for your children?

-> We did and now this is part of our will that needs to be changed. They aren't kids anymore and there is no need for guardianship or trusts.

5. Have you ever been the executor of someone’s estate? Was it easy to settle matters or was it a stressful, tangled mess? Did you have to hire someone to help you through the process?

-> I haven't, but depending upon how complex things may be, I probably would hire someone to help me. I also am encouraging our kids to enlist assistance if need be. From what some people have told me, it can be awfully overwhelming to the appointed executor, especially if it is a family member.

1. Do you currently have a will and how often do you actually update the information?
Yes, Tom and I drew up a will a few months ago. We'll probably leave it as is, unless something major happens to warrant a change.

2. Have you given instructions to your family members as to what you desire to have happen to your body and/ceremony? If so, are they written, verbal or have you actually proceeded with making arrangements so others are not burdened?
We've told Colleen, and have our wishes for when to pull the plug in our will and estate stuff, but haven't made any arrangements ourselves.

3. Is your state or province or country Community Property?
Yes

4. Do/Did you have someone officially appointed as a guardian for your children?
That's not applicable to us, but I know C and B already have someone set up for when they have a child and if something should happen to them.

5. Have you ever been the executor of someone’s estate? Was it easy to settle matters or was it a stressful, tangled mess? Did you have to hire someone to help you through the process?
I never have been, but from what my sister had to deal with after my mom's death, it was a mess. I think she did it herself, with just advice from a lawyer friend now and then.

1. Do you currently have a will and how often do you actually update the information?No...I have not idea why we keep putting it off since there's not much to our "estate"

2. Have you given instructions to your family members as to what you desire to have happen to your body and/ceremony? If so, are they written, verbal or have you actually proceeded with making arrangements so others are not burdened?..We have made all the arrangements and are paid in full

3. Is your state or province or country Community Property?..Yes...so that means I own half of nothing....LOL

4. Do/Did you have someone officially appointed as a guardian for your children?....Not needed

5. Have you ever been the executor of someone’s estate? Was it easy to settle matters or was it a stressful, tangled mess? Did you have to hire someone to help you through the process?...I was co-executor in my dad's will...that just meant I helped my sis get things done...no big deal...
