I'm like that too, only it's only about 25 or 30 pages and if I don't like it, I don't finish it. I would be doing the same with this too if we weren't going to see the show and if DD didn't tell me that it gets better. I'm up to page 87 now and still don't like it. It does make for some fun conversation with J though when I tell him about the more outrageous parts..LOL!!

I don't mind being "blind sided".

Well, then, you could just ignore the symbol that I want put on book covers stating whether it has a happy or tragic ending. I, on the other hand, would appreciate such a warning..and put the tragic ending book back on the store shelf. Hmmm..I guess that's one of the reasons such a symbol will never happen. It's money. ;)

i with you fran..i don't want to know the ending. many years ago(high school) i use th read the last few pages after reading the first chapter just to see how things ended. that way i would know if i should read the whole book. then it dawned on me i was ruining my fun and love of reading. so NO i do not do that anymore and endings are a surprise.

sorry donna...life is not always a happy ending...darn!!

I don't want to know the ending either, as not wanting to know the details, just want to know if it's good or bad. If it's bad, I don't want to read it.

I certainly do know that life is not always a happy ending. That's one of the things that I love about reading, I can escape reality and get lost
