Whines....

A day late, but here goes.....

Not a whine though, just a wishing it didn't have to be thing. I told somewhere that J's friends, a married couple, from his former church were in a bad car wreck two weeks ago. She died immediately and he was in the hospital pretty broken up. He had hip surgery last Friday, but died three days later. They were a very nice couple and he was one of the Red Cross drivers like J does also. We'll be going to their memorial service Saturday. It's a terrible tragedy for their family.

WooHoo's....

The weather has been gorgeous! We're feeling well..I finally got my flu shot..we have no complaints. Life is good!

What is the hold up now for your surgery date? It's been well over two years that you've been waiting, right? Is it because you live far enough out in a rural area that there are not enough doctors out there to do the surgery? Just curious because I had a conversation yesterday

I got the regular flu shot. I don't qualify for the swine shot. If you're over age 64, I'm 65, you can't get it. If they get enough in, they'll open it up more; but I'm not counting on that happening. They told me that it's taking so long to get them in because it takes twice as long for them to develop in their Petri dishes than the regular shots take. They advise people to get the regular shot first and then you have to wait two weeks before getting the swine, if you qualify.

The swine qualifications are, at this point.....

  1. Healthcare and EMS personnel
  2. Pregnant women
  3. Persons age six months through 24 years
  4. Household contacts and caregivers of infants younger than 6 months of age
  5. People age 25 through 64 who have chronic medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.
  6. If you're 65 and over..you can just get sick and to heck with you!!
