My update..

Here is what i sent family. Too tired to write it again. Sorry!

Thought i would update everyone.

Aj saw a specialist on new years eve. I think the dr though he would see aj and book him for surgery later. Then he used the scope to see in his throat.

He left the room looking to see if he could get another specialist to see aj that day. Nobody was available.

He said aj has an obstruction just below the vocal cords. He also has lots of scar tissue in the throat. His former trach site has also grown scar tissue and has attached to the back of his throat. The dr said aj would need another trach done. He was not yet sure if he would have to go in through the mouth or if he would have to make an opening in the throat. This is part of what the other specialist would help identify.

What we do know is we will bew going back to winnipeg next week. First we have to wait for an appt time with the other specialists.

The surgery will(at this point) be at the health sciences center (childrens hospital part.). The dr also was sure they would have to put him under to do an exploritory on him. this may lead to imediate surgery after, or during the exploritory. The dr said they would call monday. I also have to get a hold of the SGI worker to pay for the trip. of course this has taken place over the holidays. SGI agents are hard to get a hold of on normal days .

Grant will be going with me to Winnipeg for the first couple days...we can't afford more . Last time they did a throat surgery they had to restart his heart. They had over medicated him So yes we are happy to get this done and scared to death.

We are not booking a room ahead of time. This is because nobody offers hospital rates on the net or advertizes them. We have never been to this hospital and are thinking we will look for a room near thew hospital. We have been told it is not the greatest area of the city. I need to feel sfe when grant leaves.

Thomas has been a lot better since his hospital stay. Of course over Christmas i was VERY sick. Heavty bleading and weak. Now i have had a gallbaladder attack that has not really let up for days. Heat is all that helps. Tylenol 3 and muscle relaxers will not touch the pain. it has moved to my back ...esp the right shoulder blade area. Hopefully it will let up while in winnipeg.

I have no Laptop but will update  when i can find one. Hopefully the hospital/hotel will have one.
