I was just replying to Hilary in another thread and want to ask what you all think about something.  So here's the link to the that question: it's about phone etiquette...

do you feel guilty when a friend calls and you don't answer as you either don't have time or you just aren't in the mood to talk... ?

-> Honestly, no. I don't even feel guilty if family calls and I don't answer. Just because I'm a SAHM or home otherwise, does not mean that I should have to deal with an intrusive piece just because it rings.

I really do not like talking on phones and there are times where I am just NOT in the mood to answer. Best invention in the world, answering machines, voice mail and caller ID (which I wish we had) and the OFF switch on the ringer.

Wasn't sure if I should answer here or "over there", so I answered over there. Here's the link....................

Boy, is this subject right up my alley. I do not like talking on the phone. The only time is if I have something to say. After I say it, I want off! LOL.

Because of telemarketers (yes, we are on the no-call list), we screen all calls. We don't have caller ID b/c of the cost. When we hear who is calling...doctor office, dental office, vet....then we'll pick up. BTW, some telemarketers are taking to leaving recorded message. You can't pick up the phone and ask them to stop calleing.

Most friends know we don't like the phone, so email is choice of communication. We simply never answer the phone unless we know who it is. I tell people to start talking and I will pick up when I hear them.

I have ONE exception. For that one I use Skype for my good friend, Hilary. She's in Australia and I am in USA.

It would be so cool to be able to hear the american accent, or more to the point, hear how I sound to Hilary

I've often wished I could hear how I sound to other people. Even within the US, there are a myriad of accents.
