Pregnancy over 40-Advice needed

I'm almost 40 and my husband and I want to have a baby (my first). All the research I have done on pregnacy over 40 has left me scared and doubtful that I will ever be able to conceive and have a healthy baby. When I have mentioned my plans for pregnancy to friends I am met with shock. They berate me for even thinking of having a baby at my age. They say it will be unfair to my child to have an older parent. Please, I need advice from someone who has had a successful pregnancy over the age of 40. I know the risk is greater at my age, but it must be possible to have a healthy baby after 40.

There's a board of great ladies called PREGNANT AFTER 40. You should post your question there -- I'm sure they will be more than happy to help you.

Good luck!
