Congratulations on your pregnancy!

What is the envelope system?
How have you set up your budget and tracking system?

Thanks! The envelope system is one variation of a cash budget. I'll be using the method from Dave Ramsey's book the "Total Money Makeover." We've followed every other part of that plan except for this one. I've tried to use it in the past, but I put my cash in jars, and often left home without it! Now our bank started charging us 25 cents every time we use our debit cards, so I'm all for using cash only.

Actually, the DR web site has a wallet designed

Well, we want to continue building our savings account. With everything going on in the economy it just feels like we can never have enough money set aside.

Other than that, I want to start putting money in a "car purchase account". My car lease will be up May 2011. I'm hoping to be able to be able to buy a inexpensive car with cash by then.

Our resolution is to continue with what we've been doing - no real changes needed.

Mrytle Beach Momma and Heyaim,

Have you considered direct deposits from your expense accoutns every month?

That's what I do for my savings account and it's worked very well for me.

It that like having envelopes labelled for each budget item and putting inside the amount budgeted for and then when it runs out you aren't allowed to spend anymore on that item?

Pretty much. Here's the method we'll be using:

Like I said, I tried it before with jars, and it didn't work out. I think it would be tought to keep track of actual envelopes in my wallet, so I took advantage of the big Christmas sale on DR's site and bought a wallet that is designed for this particular system. Just $10! Here it is:

Watch my budget by planning, clipping coupons, researching large purchases.

For a list links to coupon sites (to save additional time, I’ve place 5 stars in front of my favorites):
