TGIF! Do you have any Budgeting vents or victories to share from this week? Any big plans for the weekend?

We had a nice time at the beach earlier this week. Will and I went with just my mom, sisters, and all their kids. I managed to stay budget-focused and trimmed about $70 in various expenses that I might have let slip away if I stopped looking at prices just because I was on vacation.

For example, I paid $20 for an upgrade to a larger room and got the second room upgraded for free,

Sounds like you had a nice time!

Last week I sold my old window A/C unit(it was only used for one Summer when we lived in the apartment and we paid $479 for it in 2005) to a co-worker and used that money to pay for a new pillow for myself and a new pair of shoes.
It's a great feeling to get rid of something that you don't need and to give it or sell it to someone who really can use it.... and then use that money to buy something that you really need.

I gave her a good deal because she's a single mom and doesn't have a lot of extra cash but all I wanted was enough money ($100) to cover my little splurge. She told me today how nice and powerful it is and how quiet too. She loves the remote control and timer feature and both her and her son can sleep in comfort now.

Ugh...sorry to hear that. The Navy overpaid Dave for months, too. We kept getting reserve checks in the mail even though he was active in a job at the base. It took a long time to convince the gov't

Vanessa - that stinks, I hope they get it sorted. I swear its too easy to buy stuff that I already have in the cupboard that I really don't need multiple of (like your five bags of flour).

I have a vent - I feel like I should be bleeding money at the moment. Some of the expenses are expected like textbooks for next semester and my monthly bus pass this coming week, but it feels like everything is trying to fit into my budget at once. My pain specialist has offered me a TENS machine that he was going to be replacing anyway (it still works, but one of the leads is damaged and I only need one of the leads) on trial for nothing other than the cost of electrodes and if it works, he'll sell it to me for $15. While I am going to take him up on this its money I really didn't have in the budget. Other than that, I'm getting lots of headaches after reading and stitching, so I need to get my sight checked out. I can afford the check, but because I wasn't due for a check until next year, I haven't really got the money for new glasses - which I'm likely to need.

No big plans for the weekend. I've got Sunday and Monday off, so will just be taking it easy and relaxing on Sunday, although I do have some housework to do. Don't know what I'm doing with Monday yet, although I do have a few phone calls that I need to make.

Good luck with your eye appointment. Glasses can really get pricey, and it's worse if you need

I haven't book the appointment to get my eyes checked yet, since I don't actually have the money for the appointment (never mind new glasses). Ideally I'd like to have the money aside for glasses as well, but I'll see what happens.
