Here's an article about a young blogger who has been using her sewing talent to make updated clothes out of other people's (sometimes hideous) cast-offs. She's on a year-long quest to make 365 new items at a total cost of $365.

What do you think - could you alter an item like this?

Would you want to?

I've never sewed and have always wanted to learn. I seriously have no skills at this point. My husbands sews all our buttons back on when we lose them. Maybe I'll take a class at Jo-Ann Fabrics one of these days.

I think this is a great idea, and is something that I would like to try. However my sewing skills are definitely at the crafting end of the spectrum for the most part.

That reminds me of the skirt that my mom made out of men's ties once upon a time :)
