Just thought it might be nice to do some sort of introduction thing...I'll go first.

I'm 28, divorced, and a single mom to a great 10 yr old girl. I am currently in debt about $12-15K, not including college loans (thank GOD for deferments)! I live in Greenville, MI and work full time as a Sales Support Associate for a nationwide insurance company. I like music, movies, reading, the outdoors, volunteer work and more...

I'm 33 and just celebrated my 13th wedding anniversary on Monday; my DH and I are High School Sweethearts. We have 3 children (2 boys and a girl), 2 Samyoeds, a cat, a lovebird, a hamster and fish (whew!). We live in Southern California and I work full-time as an Administrative Manager for a large landscape maintenance company (love my job).

We just refinanced our home to pay off some cc debt, but not all. We still have approx. $15K in cc debt. Yikes!

I enjoy going to the movies, vacationing, and going to my 7yr-old DD's cheerleading competitions. =)

Great idea! My name is Pat and I think I'm the oldest one here - 51. I teach Reading at the high school near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. i tell my students that I feel 29 and that I think I weigh 127 pounds (they laugh and I tell them they can be anything THEY want to be, so why not me?)

I am married for 26 years, have 2 kids, 22 DD and 18 DS, homeschooled DS, 2 dogs, a poodle and a sheltie.

We have been in credit card debt ever since I married my husband ( a typical sailor if you know what I mean) and just continued charging. After September 11th, as I watched the towers fall and thought of everyone inside, it made me focus on paying off our debt and turning my life around. We were $78,000 in debt and now we are $72,000 in credit card debt. No car loans or student loans. I am snowflaking, flyladying and tracking my spending. My husband STILL isn't on the same page, he just knows the total debt and congratulates me when I pay off another card. Oh well.

Thanks for being here and being so supportive ladies. I hope one day to write my success story, be out of debt totally and retire and volunteer and make a difference in someone's life.

Love,

Pat

My name is Terra, I'm 21 and married. I have one bio dd who is 4 and three step kids. My husband works ftand then some. I'm a sahm for now. I just finished college last month. we are about $6,000 cc $30,000 mortage, $9,000 car loan, $200 doc bills, and soon to be student loans/ I have seeking employment but no luck. so i'm using time to catch up on time lost with baby girl when i was school and to catch up with dh. My dh knows how much in the whole we are in and is doing his best to help me. He works ot when possible so that helps. this may seem small to some of you but it's not much when dh is only making $20k per year. the cc debts started way before me and dh got married. we have been together for about 3.5 years been married for about 2years. when his kids' mom passed away he bought whatever for kids. so basically most of debt is what his kids wanted. i did put my foot down and showed him how much this was costing us. btw i need to mention that these kids aren't kids. so they should be buying.

we are slowly digging out of debt.

I''m from MI too, the Detroit area. DH and I just had our 1st anniversary, we both work full time, he works crazy hours. We have 20k in cc's and 20k in student, and I owe about 4k on my car still. I'm new here and I just started FLYing too. My cat gets really weird when I declutter the house. My husband has started learning to budget with me, our goal is to buy a house. Next summer would be our dream, but it may take an extra year. Snowflaking is awesome, this board has helped me feel so much better about my debt and I can see a light very far away, but it is there now and wasn't a few months ago. Thanks everyone!

Here's me.

I'm 38 (almost 39), divorced, and a single mom to a great almost 8 yr old girl. I am currently in debt about $40K including a car loan, I live in Ontario, Canada and work full time as a civil servant for the federal government. I like reading, cooking, camping and am a total travel fanatic. If I don't have some trip on the horizon I feel lost. Boy, I know how to pick expensive hobbies. LOL

Hi. I'm 27, married w/2 DD's (ages 7 and 2). I am a law student/SAHM for the past two years. I live in the Mile-High city (Denver, CO) and enjoy skiing, hiking, going to baseball/hockey/CU Football (Go Buffs!) games, going to the theatre, reading and playing on the internet.

DH and I currently have $210K mortgage debt, $12K auto debt, ~$4K cc debt, and $~50K student loan debt (in Deferment). Gosh! I can't believe how it looks on paper! However, in our housing market, we both consider the mortgage to be "good debt." Student loans, too, because of the return on the investment.

I'm 30, married for 3+ years and have a DD 7. I work FT and DH does too (on commission which isn't always great for my stress levels) We have always had debt and just started to focus on living debt free this year. Right now we have about $18K in CC, $177K in mgt, about $60K in auto loans, other $5K in student loans (in deferrment) and about $15K for DHs toys (motorcycle and 4 wheeler). Once we have the CCs paid for we will then work on paying off all the other stuff. For fun I spend a lot of time volunteering in the community and reading financial books. (Boy do I need more exciting hobbies)LOL

Hi everyone! I've been lurking here for awhile, so time to introduce myself! I'm 43, living with my fiance 4 yrs. now, and a empty-nester (my 17yo DS moved to his dad's house last summer). We live in Kansas City, MO. I'm a graphic artist and my DF is a maintenance mechanic in civil service. He has a DD 25, and a DS 24, who lives with us temporarily.

When I moved in 4 yrs ago, my DF made it his mission in life to clean up my credit, whether I liked it or not. It has been tough, but he's been sooo good about it. I had about $15k in student loans (2 of these in default) and another $15k in old, bad debts - many of these in collection. Today, I'm proud to say all that's left is about $6k in student loans and my credit score is 694!

In his name, we have $120k in mortgage, $13k cc, and $23 auto and motorcycle loans. 4 years ago, we had 14 cc's totalling about $30k - this is now down to only 2 cc, and $13k. The goal has been to keep my credit clean and debt-light so we could buy real estate in the country (retirement dream) in my name. I'm so happy to report that just last month I was pre-approved for $140k for a home purchase! (4 yrs ago I couldn't get $140.00 to pay the electric bill.) Meanwhile, we've been doing major renovations on his (our) house to increase its value and paying as we go. 4 yrs ago this house was valued at $72k - today it is worth $150k. We're hoping to find our dream home in a resort area (or build it) soon, but not planning to move there until he's eligible for retirement in 8 years.

I wish I had found this board a long time ago - would have given me someplace to vent while we struggled. But we're so near the summit now and the view from here is FANTASTIC! My DF has taught me many of the strategies talked about in this board, and they REALLY DO WORK!

I'm glad to be here - thanks for having me.

Here's mine:

I'm Bridget (28) in Ohio, married for almost 6 years with 1 dd, Caitlin (3 yrs). We have $13,900 of credit card debt (down from $18,500 since August!), $29,000 in school loans, $9800 in car loan, and $37,000 left on our house. According to my Quicken Debt Reduction plan, we should be completely out of debt in 6 years, and out of cc debt by December 2004. I can't wait!

I work part-time as a client associate in Private Banking. In my spare time, I play 2nd alto sax in a big band and sub as a bari sax player in another big band. I also enjoy scrapbooking and have recently taken up gardening.
