I've made $55 in the last month! We've been cleaning out our spare room

and I have a ton of books. So I decided to start listing them for sale.

I just sold an old text book for $19! I thought it was junk.

It's so nice to be the seller instead of the buyer for once.

I'd like to say the money's been going to debt but I'm going on vacation

next week so I've been giving in to a few small impulse buys.

At least this is covering most of it.

Ooh, I have a bunch of old books that I could get rid of! Please tell us how to do it! I have never sold anything on ebay or online rather!

That would be great!

It's so easy Michelle! Especially on half.com. You don't even need a picture.

What I do is search for the book. That will give you a good idea of how many

are available and what they're going for. Once you're there, there's a link that says "sell yours now". Click on it and it should guide you through setting up an account.

(I don't remember how difficult that is because I've had one for a while.)

But once your account is set up it's really easy. You list the book and they

ask you to rate the condition. They have guidelines to follow.

They also give you a suggested price.

I try to price mine below the others being offered so that mine will sell

first.

Once it's sold you get an email notification and you have two business

days to send it out. You send it media mail which you have to specifically ask

for at the post office. You get reimbursed for shipping but half.com also

takes a small commission. So I've found that I usually end up with just

a few cents below the asking price. There is no listing fee so if it doesn't sell it doesn't cost you anything. Not all of them sell quickly. I've had some

on since October. But others sold within the day.

You get deposits into your checking account twice a month. So depending

on when it sells you may have to wait a little while to see the money show up.

But it keeps some money coming into my account instead of always going out.

It's really great for textbooks. I had some textbooks that my campus bookstore would only offer a little bit for. I posted them on half.com and got really good prices for them. I now post all of my textbooks on half.com at the end of each semester before seeing what the bookstore will give me. It's a great website!
