Good morning everyone!

I have a fun question to ask all of you. If you all of a sudden received a windfall of $50,000 what would you do with the money?

Let's all share what we would do.

After paying off my debt, there would still be a lot left over...maybe invest it until I decide to buy a house. I don't know if I would be ready to take a vacation or buy anew car, but investing it would be my second action.

I would pay off our debt (all of it) and then take our family on a trip to Hawaii and put the rest in the savings account! Ahh, I feel stress free already! Thanks!

I would apply it to debt - that would be a big chunk of it gone...but sadly, 50K isn't enough to get us out of our current debt situation.

All my best,
Danni

i would put it toward our debt. however, we still would have at least $3,000 left to payoff.

sure would be nice.

well....it would put a happy dent in the debt..not even CLOSE to paying it off.....but it would be a nice dent! It sure would make the month to month bills shrink! YAY!

it would get Cousin Bernadette to sit up and take notice that something Big was happening here!

Wow.....wishes......wishes.....

but....i just dont think 50K is gonna fall from the sky! LOL

I would pay off my credit card debt, my student loans, and then use the rest for some remodeling on our house. We'd still have a mortgage and home equity, but that's managable. Ah, to dream... :-)

I have been thinking about this - as I am about to get a 20,000 windfall (selling a condo).

I read somewhere that siad if you won the lottery you shouldn't spend any of it for 6 months (yeah right!)

Anyway, my plans for the money right now are to pay the interest bearing credit cards, bank the rest until Jan. In Jan we are considering ordering the inground pool we want and we need a 5000 deposit, although I am trying to save separately for that. There are also a few things around our house that i would like to get done, hardwood floors, roll top desk, bookcases - but for the most part I think we are going to bank most of the money.

Praise God and pay off the debt! Then enjoy the extra $1200 a month at my disposal - maybe add $200 to the budget and put the rest into savings for a car and for DH's further college education.

First I would pay off my credit cards... that's about $2775...

Then I would send the rest to Sallie Mae and get pay off $47,225 of my loan (current 10-day payoff is $52k).

Then, with all the money I would be saving not having to pay the credit cards, I would pay off SM in less than a year.

Finally I would pay back my mom the money I owe her.

Then I would sock away all the money I now longer had to pay towards debt and save for the wedding and a house!
