totally out of debt and build good financial habits.

I have been doing this total money make over for a couple months now and would

like to have other people join in and keep each other in line and focused on our end goal of getting totally out of debt.

The author is dave ramsey and he does have a website at www.daveramsey.com

he teaches how to get out of debt and in what order.

yes it is great to pay off bills, his first step is 500 or a 1000 emergency fund

so when something happens with the car or something you don't have to stop paying off bills just to take care of the emergency.

check it out and lets get together on this.

too many people heading for bankruptcy and screwing up there credit, time for a new way of doing things.

I have 4 more bills to pay off before I get to the major ones second mortgage and car payment, the car is going to get sold when we find something that we can buy to replace it.

Van is going to get sold or traded for another car that is more economical that one is a gas hog.

we have a pickup considered a farm vehichle the car is the only one with payments tho.

I started dave ramsey because it is the same thing I use to teach as a Financial Analysts.

I ran into a company where they thought that it was just his opinions and he had a lot of them, I told them that I hate to look at his financial situation.

Anyway alot of people I am running across think that bankruptcy is the only way and it isn't, or it is an easy out ( no way!).

I am ordering his workbook off his site today to help put everything on paper better!

If I keep this up I can be out of alot of my debt by christmas and working on the car and second mortgage by then.

I agree with Danni, there are several people working on the Dave Ramsey plan here too.

Also, we have Monday check-ins to help encourage each other & be accountable, so feel free to check in how you are doing on Dave's plan there.

You are correct, bankruptcy is not the only option, have you checked out our snowflaking website?

I recently started a Freedom Account but I was wondering should I even bother with all the subaccounts and just save $1000 according to the Dave Ramsey plan. Is the $1000 just for emergencies or can it cover irregular expenses like gifts and presents or travel.

Dave Ramsey is cool! I went through Financial Peace University this last January-April, and it was well worth it.

We're on babystep #2-The Debt Snowball. We're rolling along pretty well, and with the exceptions of our house and student loans, our estimated 'get out of debt' time is December 2005.

Clarice, I read Total Money Makeover recently and I was wondering about that. He didn't really address those things specifically, but when you look at his budget worksheet, he has all those things listed in different budget categories. I get the idea that his plan involves budgeting for all those things and then using any extra money beyond that for debt repayment. Of course, I found that when I did that, I still didn't have enough to put anything extra toward debt, so I went back to a modified version of Mary Hunt's plan. This week DH got offered a new job that will pay significantly more than his current job, so we went through Dave Ramsey's budget worksheet again and planned our new budget based on what we estimated his take home pay will be. We still don't seem to have enough for all the incidental expenses that come up but we're also planning on putting a lot more toward the debt.

The 1000 is suppose to be for emergencies like a water heater going out.

or in our case a water pump, it goes out in the middle of winter our pipes will freeze and break.
