I'm assuming you live in New Jersey. Well...I live in New York City. In New York City, there are organizations that will help you. You need to find out. Usually it's included w/your bill. (A separate pamplet). The process here is that you go to this organization with your turn-off notice, paystubs, etc.

I hope this helps. I think in NYC, it's called HEAP..

Good luck to you.

Take care of the electric and rent. The Salvation Army is an excellent resource, they can likely provide you with an electric stove and hot water heater in an emergency. That may be your best bet. The gas company is not likely to turn it back on, even with payments, since the balance is so high. Good luck

Hi I'm sorry about your day. I've been there, more than once. Do yourself a favor and check out some assistance locally. DON'T try to borrow money to satisfy this-I did that-

ran around all day, finally came up with the money, rushed in paid and then was told I needed an additional 500.00 for hookup due to past due problems. I never did find any help until I was able to pay myself, but I did survive by 1) heating water on a hot plate for bathing etc., cooking on the bbq, whatever i needed to do. It's not fun, but picture this-it was winter when it happened to me, I had to heat the house with propane heaters, two kids at home, what a nightmere. Beleive it or not you can compensate and survive this without going into debt. I hope you can find an organization to help, there was no one in canada-i pray you have better luck! Otherwise try to keep your chin up, better days ahead.

Eileen, looking over your profile, I see you must have some Catholic roots....or at least some form of religion (good for you btw!)
