Well, another update on our battle to bring down our debt. We have just recently become current on our untilities, (except satellite, which I do consider a luxury and it is only a few days late). We are also current on our credit payments (whihc have not been in months!!! such a good feeling!) we are now focusing on things that are in collections. Alot of them are stupid things like magazine subscriptions.. we subscribed and then didn't have the extra money to pay. Also there are a few book club purchases (mine), payment of a Gazelle Freestyle (both of ours, and yes, we do use it, and it's cheaper than the gym), and there is also a tuition bill from my college (school loans didn't cover it) and also two overdrawn checking accts that we closed. This week I called all of these companys and set up weekly payment arrangements. I decided to do weekly, because then I can do several small payments instead of big monthly payments. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and understanding. I have marked them all on our payment calender and it's very doable. I am glad that we are finally facing the music and making an effort. It feels good to be becoming an adult. I see it not as challenge now. I can almost see a light at the end of the tunnel. Once we pay off these stupid extra things, we can have a decent life. We can save. We want to buy a house in a year or so, and think we can have our finances in order by then. Thank you all for all the advice and support. I love this board!!!!!

That's good to hear! Hooray for you! I know it's hard taking that look at just where you stand, but at least you're moving forward!
