Okay, I finally got a realistic budget together, INCLUDING a freedom account. I will start it in October, and HAVE a $500 buffer in my account. I'm excited, because this means things will start to get paid off, and that's the best part.

It feels really good having had my DBF help me and make this budget. Also, I gave him all my CC's, but not my debit cards. I need those to get to the bank. BUT I am not carrying them. And he's going to cut back on golf

I'm just glad he didn't freak out. That was the first time he's seen how much I truly am in debt. =)

That's great that you got something worked out. I've found that what works for us with the unexpected expenses is to just allow the budget to be flexible. For instance, the electric won't get turned off after only one month past due when I need to spend a little more on groceries for some reason. Now, I'm not saying this is a good practice because it's not but every once in a while we have to allow for those unexpected things to come out of another part of the budget. Plus, once you have a freedom account or some other form of savings built up, you'll find that those unexpected expenses don't pop up as much and when they do - you'll have money put aside for them.

Good job on taking this very important step. Don't beat yourself up if you find it hard to stick to - just sit down and look at the numbers again and revise them as necessary.

Actually, I think my bf helped me be really realistic about it, so it won't be too hard. Also, he suggested with my "3rd paycheck" in September, instead of paying off part of a credit card, he suggested I use that money as a buffer. And instead of timing all my bills, pay them as they come in. Less stress.

He was sweet. Helping me to cut down on bi-weekly (aka paydays) stress and get inot a simple routine of paying bills when they come in, and also, to have a buffer so when unexpected things DO come up, for the most part, I can use some of the buffer if needed.

Yeah! =) I think this will work. I really do.
