rebuilding credit

In about six months I expect to have about $1,200.00 saved. I am considering putting half into a secured credit card that we would use for gas. Every time we buy gas, we'd take that amount out of our checking account and put it aside to pay the bill with when it comes in. SO I know that will help to rebuild our credit.

What else can I do? I am thinking that since it will take me six months to pay off Credit Card A; that when it's done I need to make sure they report it as paid in full. Credit Card B will take 10months to pay off (I think..might be 9). So after six months of regular payments, I need to make sure that it is reported as being paid regularly; and then again reported as paid in full when it's finished, right?

What else can I do other than getting new credit and keeping it current and checking to make sure each bill is reportedly promptly when it is paid in full if it has been added to our credit report as a delinquency? I'm assuming that some of our medical bills have been reported as such, maybe some other miscellaneous bills.

I'm not really sure, your best place to ask this would be on the Debt Question & Answer board

Just from reading your post, it sounds like you don't really know what is on your credit report at the moment, if that is the case, your first step would be to get your reports and find out what exactly is on there at this point.

I've ordered them, just waiting for them to arrive.
