I wonder....

If you suddenly learned that you had less than $30 to last you the rest of the week, how would you make it last?

All my best,

Well, since it's Wednesday, and payday is Friday, I think I could suck it up and manage. If any driving was to be done, we'd end up using the Saturn,as it gets better gas mileage than the Blazer. We're pretty good on groceries, so we'd be OK there. To not spend it-I'd be creative. Nothing wrong with popcorn for dinner every so often, lol!

Mainly, this scenario is about where we're at the week before payday, but at least the money would be taken from the right envelope.

Lets see, 30 bucks for a week. I would buy cheap foods that stretch, like oatmeal, rice, maybe several cans of vegies on sale, 4 for a dollar sometimes, ect., to cover meals for the week. (oh, now that I think about it, I could dig into my cupboards and whip up a few meals, I just never do that, seems I go to the store everyday to chose whats for dinner!! Never thought of that, how silly.) I have a family of 5, so it would be tough, but do-able.

I would bring my coffee from home to work instead of buying one everyday. I always forget my thermo cup, and so spend about a dollar a day on coffee at the quik mart.

I'd make hubby drive harley to work to save on fuel, as he travels 15 miles one way to work, so 150 miles a week. I've got 1/2 tank now and a 3 mile commute, so I'd be okay with gasoline.

We'd be okay, but it would be tough to live that way for very long!

I am in that situation now, except that I spent my last $20 yesterday for lunch with my friend. Now I have no money until Saturday. I am making do with the food I have. I really miss the coffee creamer though. Milk and sugar are okay but not as good. I have planned free things to do with my kids today. I am going to take them to the park then we will come home and eat lunch. There is plenty of free stuff to do with the kids. I will make it. I have to tell myself that.

I think we would be ok. I'll have to give 1/2 of the money to my husband. (I wouldn't want him to go to work, w/o money in his pocket.) We have plenty of food in the house. I cook everyday, therefore, he'll have lunch. Bills are paid. However, if we have to go to the Poconos, we would have to use the credit card or take money out of savings.
