Am I the only one that does this?

It may just be because of my situation but maybe those of us that are still on the way at the beginning end all do this?????
Every time I pay the mortgage it's like a "whew, we made it through another month" and I can breathe!!

I think it's perfectly understandable. You've been living in Crisis Mode for so long, your body and mind literally react when mortgage time comes near.
I started sleeping better when I had a cushion of a certain amount in my savings account. The amount is probably different for everyone, but I'll bet that if you had a month or so living expenses in the bank (not something you dip into every month, but actually free and clear money), you'd feel more relaxed at mortgage time.
You're fine, don't worry!
All the best,
Lee Ann

Also, I think becuase that the mortgage is more than one weekly paycheck for either my DH or I that I have to always make sure I save aportion of at least 2 paychecks to cover the mortgage. Does that make sense??
If Dh would get off his lazy behind and get a real job - maybe I would worry less. I really shouldn't complain, he is working, it's just that I know he is so under paid and worth so much more to an employer - but sadly he does not yet see that in himself. {{sigh}}}
I hear ya. At the end of the month, I will have, for the first time in my life, a buffer. And I'm not even sure how to react. lol.
Right now, it feels like relief, with a bit of "uh-oh" mixed in. The Uh-oh is because I'm worried that I'll miss a payment on something. That reminds me, I need to go make mylist. lol
I like how a previous poster said it, you're in crisis mode for so long, you dont' know how to act anymore.

I too used to feel "relief" when the monthly mortgage payment went through. Eventually, I got tired of the crisis mode feeling and set up a bi-monthly payment plan through our mortgage company. Yes, I pay an additional fee each month for this "service", however I now have our mortgage payment split into two equal parts, each deducted the same day we get paid. So I don't have to worry about saving the money for a monthly payment, because it's always there (as long as we have paychecks) just in time for the mortgage to get paid. Setting up a rainy day fund of $2000 also means that we could pay the mortgage for several months if one or both of us lost a job. I no longer feel that monthly cycle of anxiety anymore. Now, I just feel irritation at having such a big chunk of our paycheck come out each month! So, we are sending additional payments toward the principal. At the rate we are going, we'll have our 30 year, $100,000 mortgage paid off within 4 years!
Sincerely,
