I'm new to this board but from what I can see so far this is exactly what i'm needing. we have under $10,000 in debt but a lot of it is i collections right now and it sucks. We are working steadily at taking care of it, but the moral support offered here is what I really need at this point, so thanks everybody for being here!

So anyway my question is this: Does anybody know anything much about govt. grants? you know those commercials and newspaper ads that are saying that you can get govt. money to pay of debt (start a business, go on vacation, etc, etc,)? are they valid or are they pretty hard to get? if anyone knows anything about them please let me know what you know

thanks-

Welcome Jenny.

I don't know the answer to this question but my hunch is it's not just as simple as the commercials would make it appear!!!

I don't know any facts but if it sounds to good to be true it probably isn't true. You should proceed with caution.

I would *think* that if the programs are really out there, they're things you can find out about on your own. I'm suspicious anytime someone wants money. If they're government programs, the information should be readily available.

You might also check with the library and see if they carry a copy of one of those books. One that I've seen is called "Free Money to Pay Your Bills", I just checked our library and they have it available. So you might try that and save yourself the risk.

Now I'm curious so I requested the book but there's a wait list so it might be a while.

Go figure. ;)
