No one ever calls us on our landline except telemarketers and wrong numbers, so I cancelled it, saving $26/month!

Wow, I must be following in your footsteps. We are cancelling our main phone line this week! We have to keep one for the computer, since I work from home and it is a neccessity. Good luck and congrats on the savings. You are going to make a big dent in your debt!

I cancelled our land line when we got VOIP (we used zoom-phone, but several companies offer it - including time warner now) - it's about half what we paid for landline and long distance.

Then I got a cel with pre-paid minutes to cover as a back-up! I love it!

I cancelled mine about a year ago, and upgraded to a great unlimited cell plan for $45/mo.

My friend works for the local phone company and said that she saw a report saying that landlines will be obsolete in 20 yrs. Isn't that crazy? They can't compete with cell phones anymore.

Corrine, what is VOIP? I have never heard of it.
