MBNA Help!!!

AS you saw with the other poster, MBNA rates have jumped to ridiculous heights. Mine included. I am not at a whopping 29.99%. WTF! Oops, I stand corrected. I just checked, it says 25.99% as if that's much of a difference when you think about it.

I need to get this card GONE ASAP.

Is there anyway to get this done? It's also my BIGGEST debt. It's about $7k. I can't transfer it as I can't get anymore cc's (too many already). Should I just start my budget there instead? And worry about the rest?

Ugh. I hate them. lol. I'm not sure what choices I have....but I think I have none.

Maybe this is just a vent then. lol

Cher - my understanding is that in order to pay one card with another, you use the balance transfer checks that you get from your credit card issuer.

It is strange that MBNA won't let you pay them with another credit card. It may be that you aren't allowed to pay the balance of one MBNA account with another MBNA one. I was offered an MBNA card with a lower rate than the one DH and I had jointly. I asked if I could transfer the balance of the joint MBNA card to it. I was assured over the phone, that yes I could. When the card came, in the fine print it said no. So I never used the card. When that card was still showing up on my credit report 6 years later, I contacted MBNA and they said they couldn't even find the account.

The reason I say it is strange, is MBNA has no problem doing a balance transfer to themselves from one of my other cc's.

Good luck on getting your other cards paid down enough where you can get rid of MBNA.

Oh see, I don't want to do a balance transfer, because then my rates are higher, although they would be lower than mbna. hmmm................

I'll have to look more into this. I know with some cards, you can just use them to pay things off, just use the card number, not do a balance transfer, so it'd be like purchasing something on the lower apr. With all my cards, if i use a check or do a balance transfer, then it's a higher apr.

Hmm...............
