Stop creditors from calling @ work???

Hi all - I'm new to this board, but in January I got into some financial problems and couldn't make the monthly pymts. on my credit cards. My big problem now is creditors call me at work, all the time. I thought it was against the law for them to harrass you at work? Am I wrong? It's bad enough that I'm having financial problems, but now my boss and co workers know from all the calls I'm recieving. It's so bad that now when I answer the phone during the day I have to say I'm someone else, and that Jennifer "isn't there" Anyone have any advice for me? I'm already stressed out, and now with them calling my work non stop I don't know what to do. Luckily, I work graveyard, so a lot of the calls come through during the day. ?? Any ideas? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! Jen

Tell them that you wish to receive everything in writing and that they should stop calling you at work. If this isn't the original company (and is a collections agency) then it is illegal for them to contact you at work - read this article for some more info - http://www.ivillage.com/money/life_stage/deepdebt/articles/0,,165364_76703,00.html

Good luck!

Welcome to the board!!

I agree with Corrine, you can tell them you want everything in writing...just look at her link as I don't know all the specifics.
