Just got back from our week long stay. It is truly magical there! I've never seen a cleaner place! We managed to have $120 left out of $1000, but had to buy groceries when we got home. I couldn't believe how expensive everything was! All the rides led into a gift shop! My DD had to get those trading pins and DS cried for the stuffed animals!!!! But it was still a wonderful trip.

Due to a special, we decided to stay in a moderatly priced resort(Carribean Beach) instead of a value resort. (DH's parents paid for that -thank goodness) If it weren't for them paying for almost everything, we could not have afforded to go.

Now I'm ready to start pounding money on my last credit card since I had been saving for the trip.

Becky, are you still planning on going next year?

welcome back.

although, it was expensive, i'm sure it was worth every penny. you have created fond memories for your kids.

We get so wrapped up in paying off our debt, that we forget to enjoy life.

Ummm....yes and I know it's outrageously expensive especially for our larger family but I'm *really* hoping for some deals to show up.

How fun! My DBF was just saying to me the other day, "when are we going to go on a weekend vacation again". and I'm like, we BOTH can't afford it.

I know when I was looking at DW, I thought the "food programs" were great. No money spent on food, cuz it was all in the price, kinda like Club Med. I never did get to go. Funny thing, twice I planned it with two different husbands. Twice we divorced before being able to go. I doubt I'll ever go now. kinda superstitious about it. lol.

Glad you had a great time. Remind me to go when I'm rich. Until then, I'll just take advantage of our "cheap" Disneyland here.

Hi We went to DW last spring and spent $4000 when all was said and done! Everything is ridiculously expensive but it was worth it. We used my husbands bonus check (the whole thing!) or else we wouldn't have been able to go. We stayed in 2 adjoining rooms at the value resort (movies) and I thought it was fabulous! Not fancy but very nice and a huge, wonderful pool, playground etc etc. I would recommend it. It was less for us to have 2 rooms there than 1 of the more expensive ones. We ate breakfast in our room- little boxes of cereal, bagels and juice boxes. There was a grocery off DW property but close enough that we went there every other day for ice, milk, etc. We also paid $10 each for 2 of the hotels refillable "commemorative" mugs which we used at the fountain stations for lemonade and poured into paper cups for the kids when we ate at the hotel's food court. Cheaper than spending $2.50 every time they wanted a drink. It is aggravating that every ride ends at a gift shop but we limited the kids souveneirs to 1 shirt, 1 hat, 1 toy for the entire trip. They were OK with that. even after these little tips above, my husband would say "We're on vacation" when I was sweating as I tallied our daily expenses. gotta love that man! We will go back, but not for 5 years or so. Have fun!
