have taken a second job to get you through a rough spot?

I have finally faced the cold, hard facts - we've tracked our spending, budgeted to the last penny, cut, economized, all the right steps. But I'm left with approx. $1,400.00 worth of bills (not including any more groceries or gas) and approx. $1,200.00 worth of income for the rest of the month. So, there's 2 choices - decrease outgo or increase income. It's time for a second job.

With Christmas coming and my daughter's wedding, I don't see any other way.

Wow. It hurts. A lot.

My husband started working on the weekends for a caterer a year ago because we were a few hundred dollars short every month, and we couldn't even think of what else to cut. I made a move this month to a job that should make up for that next year, so we're hoping he can stop in March, when it would take effect. I know the "smart" thing would be for him to keep working and we'd use that extra $400-500 a month for smart purposes, but it really sucks not having time together on the weekends. It's the only time we get to spend together, and when he's working, we might as well not even be married - more like having a great roommate for all the "couple" time we get.

Yep, and third jobs...

DH works full time as a help desk tech, part-time at Target, and fixes computers on the side. I work at the library, do work for a rebate fulfillment company here in MN, and work at my school's library as well as tutor for economics.

We also both go to school full-time. We have 1 DD, and he has 2 others that we get every other weekend. We do get to see each other because DH works from home for his 'real' job, lol. It's tough, yeah, but dangit-so was being up to ears in debt!!

The way we figure it is that it's not for forever. We both just keep reminding each other of Dave Ramsey's statement: Live like nobody else so that later, you can live like nobody else. His family thinks we've gone off the deep end, and can't understand why we do what we do. That's ok-when we can buy and sell them 20 times over maybe they'll get it, ROFL!!

hang tough and remember-it doesn't have to be for forever. It may just seem like it for awhile.
