Some of you might remember my last post about my job situation. It turned into a rant because my husband got a job for Bellsouth and I wanted one too! (long annoying whine!)Well I put in my application and I got an invitation for the Career Connection Event. Testing and interviewing goes on at this stage. I'm so excited. We would be able to pay off all of our debt in a matter of MONTHS if I got this position! WHOOO HOO!! I have to go to the event next Friday. Please keep your fingers crossed!!

Best of luck on the upcoming job event! I just found a full-time position recently with an American company based in California (I live in Montreal) and so far I really like it. I hope you find something equally satisfying soon!

Thanks gals! I know you are in Canada so I'll help you out :) Bellsouth is a major company. I would be working in telephone billing support area and also upgrading and sales. Bellsouth also does DSL and dial up internet services. They also own Cingular cell service. They also sell Direct TV (Satellite). I'm not sure if they own that one too. I also think that they are connected with AT and T but I'll have to ask DH. They pay all medical premiums, offer discounts from major companies, are under a union and have very very competitive pay. They also have tuition PREPAYMENT instead of reimbursement. That is a big deal for us because we just don't have the cash to pay it and then wait around to be reimbursed. Also I would only have to work 2 Saturday's a month, no Sundays and the latest I would ever have to work is 7pm (most call centers are 24 hours a day). I also would get major holidays off paid and only work a 37.5 hour work week regularly. They do have overtime and after 39 hours it is double pay! Can you tell I'm excited?

I do know of Bellsouth and many of your largest telecommunications providers such as Cingular and Verizon (I worked for the major canadian telecom companies...think Bell Canada who is partnered with Bell Atlantic and Telus who uses Verizon as their US roaming partner). Direct TV is also available in Canada but it sucks since they don't provide the best of the premium US channel line-ups.

I can see why you are so excited :)) My former telecom employers had the same great benefits as you mentioned and I made a very good salary.

Don't forget to keep us posted!
