Would I be wrong?

My son's birthday is Monday. Yesterday I found a really great toy (Bob the Builder front-end loader with lights and sounds) marked from $25 to $15 and then 50% off of that--so my son's present actually only cost $7.50. Well, DH thinks my DD also needs to get my son a present. Okay, I can understand that. But, here's my deliema (sp?). I have a book for DS that I bought while we were on vacation (actually moving but that is a whole other story). It is paid for and I left in the bag while we were moving and just found it the other day. DS has never even seen it or read it. Come on he's only two. Would it be wrong of me to have DD help wrap it and give it to him for his birthday or do I need to take her to the store and buy him another gift.

He is also getting gifts from my mother and father and from my brother and SIL. Does it really make a difference or should I just let DD give him the book?

TIA,

Kellie

how old is your dd?

Why not have your dd give him the book? like you said he is only two. He doesn't know the difference.

I don't see nothing wrong w/that.

I agree...I don't see anything wrong with it. This does remind me of a really funny story though. My brother is 16 years older then me, and for my 6th birthday, he gave me a Mickey Mouse watch. I should mention that my brother has always been known as a tightwad, even at that age. I wore it for about 2 weeks, and my mother took it away from me, because she said I was winding it too much, and it wasn't a "toy"...Wouldn't you know, for my next birthday, my brother gave me the same watch??? As if I would have forgotten...LOL. To this day, I have never let him hear the end of it.

Kellie,

I say go for it!!! I posted about "saving" Christmas presents for my daughter's birthday on the other post about Christmas. I don't see anything wrong with it. I know my daugher is too young to know any better so we do all kinds of interesting things to save money. I've even bought her christmas gifts at a yard sale one time. Once she was given a hand me down toy and I hung on to it until her Birthday! Some may say cheap but I say that she will benefit more from us paying down our debt than from a toy that she will forget about in a few weeks!

I haven't read the other posts but I don't see anything wrong with having your DD helping you to wrap and present the book to your son. As you said he's only two years old!

I think it's very smart of you to not go and spend additional money especially since he'll be receiving gifts from other family members. I say go ahead with your plan ;)

I have done this many a time. I buy gifts for the kids and hide them away for a rainy day, or forget I even bought them until I find them while cleaning. There is nothing wrong with just bringing something out for your daughter to wrap for your son. I am sure he will love it as much if not more than anything else, it's from his big sister!
