Sounds like you feel really good about this and I can understand why, so with dh's blessing go for it :)

Stick to your plan, dh put you in charge of the money so you get the final say, LOL :)

I think it's a nice gesture to do something that could stop your parents from having to pay that amount. I understand your dh's logic but he's being rational. However there are times you need to decide based on how you feel about things.

I would do the very same thing your talking about doing... If it bothers you to except the help from your parents, its worth the peace of mind.

Sounds like a good plan, at least on paper. I'm just going to play devil's advocate for a moment...(and mind you, I'm speaking from experience here, lol)

Does your DH need a certain amount free on the credit card? If he does, you may want to think about putting a big chunk towards paying it, and the rest towards your car loan. When my DH used to have to travel a bunch for his job, he'd rack up a credit card, then when the reimbursement came in, we didn't always pay the card that he'd used. I was doing the shuffle dance too, and in the end, I think we didn't do ourselves any favors. We still owed on the card, and then, the next time he had to travel, he almost didn't have enough 'room' on the card. :O

Buuut-here's the flip side of it-if this will help you get a better step up on the whole debt repayment thing, go for it! <> (not an exact quote because I can't find it!) "Thanksgiving dinner tastes different when you owe your family money." (then he usually goes on to say that illustrates the point that "the borrower is slave to the lender." <>

If paying the car off (which means that your parents don't have to) will put you at peace-write the check. just know that your DH may not be terribly thrilled!
