DSG FIRE DRILL!

Hello! Since I haven't posted much in a long time, I thought I'd start with a fire drill:

At the very moment you are reading this, you discover that your primary television set has burned out. What is your reaction? What is your plan of action? Do you wait and save up for a new one, or do you buy one immediately any way you can? Do you dip into your savings for a new one? Do you borrow one? Why/why not? Is it a tool or entertainment for you? Do you have family members who can't live without it? Do you not have a television set at all right now?

Curious to hear your answers! Littlesbigs

Lisa,

Thank you for making my day!!!!! Your enthusiasm made me smile!

And BTW, WE HAD A REAL UNNANNOUNCED FIRE DRILL AT WORK TODAY!!!!!!!!!!! (It was scary because usually the fire drills are announced ahead of time!)

Best wishes, Littlesbigs

I have a television but no cable because I don't want to pay for it, nor do I want to become glued to my couch due to lack of initiative to do other things. So I read alot.

The video store in my area is also really expensive, and I am trying to make up for the 3K or so of expenses over the last couple of months that I didn't really want to have to shell out for. So I don't really rent videos either.

So if my tv blew up, it would be okay. I don't even need it for work.

Oh boy...if that were to happen the dh would cry like a baby :) LOL, just kidding!

But seriously, he'd be upset so first I'd ask my family members if they had an extra t.v. they weren't using to either sell or loan to us until we found the t.v. we wanted at the price we wanted.

We would pay for it in cash from our Miscellaneous Expenses Savings Fund.

I'm not a t.v. person so I wouldn't bother to replace it but if I want my dh to speak to me then it's in my interest to find one...fast!

Right now, I don't have TV. I cancelled cable about a month ago, thought I could use bunny ears. I was wrong. When I move in 18 days, I'm getting limit basic cable again. Right now, Iif my TV died it wouldn't be a big deal. Can't watch it anyways, unless I want to watch snow.

At the very moment you are reading this, you discover that your primary television set has burned out. What is your reaction?Run around screaming and hoping it is just a nightmare lol

What is your plan of action? Bring one of the other tv's (I have a total of 3) to the living room, so I can keep wathcing tv.

Do you wait and save up for a new one, or do you buy one immediately any way you can?I would just get mine fixed, its a 65" so it dang well better be fixable lol

Do you dip into your savings for a new one? No would not dip into savings, not that important.

Do you borrow one? Why/why not? No that would be too weird to borrow a tv.

Is it a tool or entertainment for you? Tv is entertainment but gots to have it lol

Do you have family members who can't live without it? Yes I can't live without tv.

Do you not have a television set at all right now?I have 3 but I mentioned that already.

If our TV died - I just asked Fi this - we would live without one. We would probably be better off without one, anyway.

Now, if our computer died...

Ooooh, I like this question!! :o) We are big tv fans here. We have 3 tvs, satellite, and Tivo (which I have to say, was my most exciting purchase in years!) If our main one died, I'd move the one from our bedroom down here temporarily, and move our small one into our bedroom. We wouldn't dip into savings to buy a new one, but would probably just wait a paycheck or two, and pay cash. I view television as a luxury, definitely, but it's one I really enjoy and appreciate. I quite happily pay my Directv bill every month! lol We all (dh & I, kids) really like our tv, but we'd be fine without it too. I think that some people think if you watch a lot of tv that's ALL you do, and we do lots of other things too!! :-)

I would call Best Buy and have a fit because it is less than a year old ;o) If there was no way of getting it replaced I would make due with my little 13 inch tv, which I did for 4 years before.

We have more TV's than people who live in our house! :) So we would use one of the smaller ones until we could afford to replace our main TV.

If we only had 1 TV and it burned out, I would probably borrow one or buy a small one so we could watch something. DH & I watch way too much TV!

I love Tivo too! We rarely watch live TV and fast forward through commercials.
