DSG FIRE DRILL!

Hello! Since I haven't posted much in a long time, I thought I'd start with a fire drill:

At the very moment you are reading this, you discover that your primary television set has burned out. What is your reaction? What is your plan of action? Do you wait and save up for a new one, or do you buy one immediately any way you can? Do you dip into your savings for a new one? Do you borrow one? Why/why not? Is it a tool or entertainment for you? Do you have family members who can't live without it? Do you not have a television set at all right now?

Curious to hear your answers! Littlesbigs

Yeah - I call TiVo an "efficiency" tool - I can watch 60 mins of TV in approx 45 mins - thus freeing up 15 minutes for every hour of TV watched :)

All my best,

We just went through this. Our big TV died, then our second TV died!! For a brief time we were watching on a little 13inch TV from the kids' playroom. DH fixed the big TV, and we are saving for a new TV. We'll have enough in about another three payday (six weeks).

Well, I could easily wait and save up to buy a new one, but my DH is definitely a different story, especially now during football season! He would insist on our going to buy a TV right away. We would probably put it on our store credit card which gives us 6 months to pay, during which time I would put aside the money to pay it off and hopefully (probably) pay it off in full once it came due. The one big struggle would be getting DH not to buy the latest technology, but to settle for something that is decent and will last us a while. Probably, he would see this as an opportunity to talk me into getting a flat screen HDTV or whatever the latest thing is!
