I'm in the high risk group, but waiting to see if there is going to be any left by the time I get over my cold. I'm in the lower end of the high risk category, so I may skip it and take my chances. They say there might not be enough for everyone high risk, and I know there are lots that are worse off than me.
Just out of curiosity, where they following the CDC guidelines? Do you work in an office, or healthcare facility? Most offices I know canceled flu shot drives that were scheduled after the announcement of the shortage.
I got one because my work offered them for free. I also live in Canada where thankfully we don't have a shortage. I find it so ironic that a country as wealthy and powerful as the USA can't manage to provide enough of a basic vaccine to protect its citizens. It makes me wonder what people should really be scared of in this world. Don't get me wrong, I like all you guys lots, it's just a comment on politics really.
I got one b/c I'm a nurse and gotta have people to take care of the people that do get sick. :) The last thing you'd want is not to have medical people available to help. But the flu shot is not 100%, it has 3 strains that they think may be around but they have been wrong in the past so we just cross our fingers that they "picked" correctly.

I live in Canada - all that stuff doesn't apply.
We have travelling clinics (a nurse and a couple of crates) that go around to different places that request them. My workplace does it every year.
