A fresh start

Today I have gotten a fresh start on my finances... I have gone through my bill basket, which had overflowed on to the entire desk top. Shredded any past stuff, organzied the current bills, pulled out the bank statements and paycheck stubs and filed those. I also dusted really well with a nice smelling green apple scented cleaner. I feel so much better now and have a renewed get out of debt spirit. Next I'm going to balance my checkbook and tidy up my spending plan (I don't care to use the word budget).... How many of you need to do this too? Can anyone who needs to do this commit to getting it done by Sunday? With Christmas and the New Year approaching now would be a good time to get it done. For those of you who are too afraid to even look at your bills, trust me when I say knowing where you are at (no matter how bad it is) is better than the fear of not knowing.

I am very organized and would probably freak if things weren't in order concerning my finances/bills.
Last week I went through my file folders and did the "menage". I got rid of old bills/statements and stuff that I know I no longer need.

"It is said that life has its peaks and valleys. The challenge is to accept them equally and experience them
It does take some time, but it is well worth the effort.
I think I'll try some apple scented cleanser this weekend, too, so I can have a fresh smell as I chase my fresh start!

For a heads up, keep any documentation for five years, barr W2 tax items - always keep those.
