Wow I have been at my own pity party for a day or so and feel like I can actually talk about this......

I filed Ch 7 in 1999, everything was fine I was making good money ($3500 mth) and was establishing my credit again...then last July I lost my job, I moved to San Diego

Are you paying on your student loans? If so, you might be able to put them into deferrment for a while (not a good long term solution, but a great short term solution). I would miss the CCC payment before missing the car payment. A credit card company can't repossess your car and keep you from getting to work. Hang in there.

Well I talked to the car people and they will take $100 today and then more on the 15th, I need to keep my car from getting 2 months behind......so I am not able to pay the CCCS people, don't know if they will drop me or not, guess I should call to let them know.

The student loans.....I was on a income sensitive plan for the past year since I had lost my job, I continued to pay all of those on time, then I asked for a forebearance and they only granted me one month and now they had me refill out the forms on my income and increased my pymts by $50 a month. I know not to let those get behind but it is getting increasingly harder! Can I ask for it again?

Do you have more than one? What is your interest rate? You could consolidate or re-consolidate which could give you a couple month repreive while they process the paperwork. I did this recently. I had consolidated my loans in 1997 when I graduated, and I just reconsolidated the one loan last year, and the interest rate went from 8% or something to less than 4%. I have mine on a graduated 30-year payment plan, which means the payments gradually increase over time. My payment dropped in 1/2 when I reconsolidated because of the lower interest rate and re-starting the 30-year period at year 1. So I'll pay for longer, or hopefully pay off early, but it gave me some breathing room in my budget.

I am sorry you have been having a hard time lately, things are sure to get better. You may want to consider getting a 2nd part time job. I know nobody wants to just work, work, work, all the time, but in some cases it is neccassary. Just long enough so you can get your bills caught up and then down to some managable level where you can survive on just one job. Seasonal work should be starting very soon, and you shouldn't have any trouble finding one of those jobs. Good Luck

Did you check into filing an economic hardship deferment with the student loans? I believe it is up to 36 months. That may help.

I am waiting to here back from the place that does my loans, I was able to request it online. In the meantime I was able to talk to the Credit Union that owns my car and they told me they do not want my car (of course not I owe more than it is worth!) but that I needed to pay $100 that day, I went and did that so I am good until I can pay again later this month. I told CCCS that I could not pay this month, but got no response back from them. I will call later in the month. I can truly say that I am not thinking BK again although it did cross my mind. I just need to get through this one bill at a time. I am also changing jobs in 2 weeks but am doing it at the end of one pay period and beginning of the other so that is a relief and I am getting an increase in pay at the new one. I am still contemplating the 2nd job......

Thank you for just listening to me....sometimes a pity party for 1 is not enough!!! ;)
