We host for my side of the family (parents and brothers) and assorted friends. Cooking is no problem...it is the cleaning and preparation that gets to me every year (they are not local so we have houseguests for a few days). I have been decluttering for the past few months and established somewhat of a regular cleaning routine, so it shouldn't be as difficult this year. Still, I always end up pretty overwhelmed!!

DH always gets a huge 24-26# turkey at work (I need help lifting it in and out of the oven!!) I was just making out my shopping list for everything else this morning--I'm going to try to pick up the non-perishables I need as they go on sale. I have to fit them into my regular grocery budget.

Overall it is a little spendy for one weekend...we always have pizza delivered on Wed night and on Fri we go into town/out to lunch. Then there are the snacks and things you need to keep on hand for guests. I only see my family a couple of times a year though so it is well worth it.

Now if I could only hire a maid, LOL

My family's being poopey, so I think it'll just be DH and me for Thanksgiving. That's okay, because right after lunch, we go get our tree, and I bring down all the six bins of Christmas decorations. I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I'm listening to Christmas music on my computer right now!

My twins' were born on November 25th. This year, it falls on Thanksgiving Day. We decided to visit family in Puerto Rico. We will be spending two weeks, two days. A counsin of mine, usually hosts Thanksgiving in her house. (Her and her husband own a mansion.) Therefore, we thought it was a good idea to have the kids' third birthday overthere.

I guess this year, will be an expensive holiday for us.

I'm going to Ohio to see my family. I haven't seen them since June 14,2003! It is an all day celebration. I love the food lol. The only traditions we have is having the family dinner. Its not expensive cause I don't ever host it. Usually my grandma, aunt, and a couple times in the past my parents have but they are divorced now. I did offer to bring a dish but grandma said to just bring me and the boys. Oh well, I offered. I might just bring on anyway, what is she going to do, tell everyone not to eat it.lol Like that would happen.

This year my brother/SIL are hosting it - we kind of do a swap - Last year we hosted it but Luke was little then and it was a lot easier to just have it here.

We're going to my BIL/SIL's house for part of the day, I think. I know DH loves big family gatherings, but I tell you what-it gets draining on me. Too much of everything, that's for sure!

I think DH said something about Target having an employee's day to shop BEFORE all the madness starts...maybe we'll go to that.

I used to like Thanksgiving-well, sort of, lol. I'd get to watch my beloved Cowboys play, and all was well in the world. Unfortunately, now, DH's family makes it too personal when the game is on, so I usually just don't watch either of the games.

Ah, the holidays-the time of year I remember why exactly I don't like to spend a lot of time with the assorted in-laws...;)
